We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this superb little pocket guide to The Philippines
Website Designed by Nigel Sutherland Designs Ltd.
Further Destinations In a country made up of over 7,000 islands, you can be sure that there are a vast number of destinations that are just waiting to be discovered and enjoyed.
The Philippines is a fast-developing nation when it comes to tourism, and many parts are still relatively unspoiled, and perhaps, for that reason alone, well worth taking a detour to visit! The destinations we highlight here can sometimes quite easily be incorporated into itineraries we've already devised. If you'd like to include such a destination in your holiday, please let us know, and we'll do our best to make it happen! |

Leyte & Camotes Islands Although there is a small airport at Ormoc, Leyte, flights can be irregular, and you'll more than likely arrive by fast ferry from Cebu. With a guide to accompany you, you should explore Ormoc, and Lake Danoe, or Tongonan National Park and Hot Springs. Vist local coconut farm and rice fields. Travel to Isabel, small village 2 hours north. Take a boat to the Camotes Islands, and enjoy a beach resort at San Francisco.
Calicoan Island, East Samar Samar has beautiful beaches and is popular with surfers, and beach-lovers alike.
With its rugged landscape, virgin tropical forests, unspoiled white sand beaches, crystal clear water and surf, Calicoan is a must-see for the adventurous traveler or intrepid surfer. The imaginatively named ABCD Beach boasts both left-hand and right-hand waves. The surfing season runs from April to November. Summer months are perfect for learners with more gentle 2 to 3 foot waves, while the latter months offer bigger and more challenging waves. Board rentals are available from the Surf Camp resort as are surf lessons upon request.
Siargao Siargao Island is a prime destination for surfers in the Philippines, catering for both right and left handed surfers. The island sponsors the annual Siargao Cup.
Caving enthusiasts may want to try the luminescent Silop cave or the labyrinthine tunnels of Mapawa. The submerged Suhoton Cave in Bucas Grande Island (southwest of Siargao) leads to an enchanting lagoon of islets and can be accessed only at low tide. Mangroves that cover the west and south of the island are perfect for boating and kayaking. The coast to the east of the island is not only perfect for surfing but also for sailing, parasailing and kite surfing. The Santa Monica Falls in the town of the same name has crystal clear waters flowing from an unspoiled, virgin forest source. Snorkeling and scuba diving sites include Guyam and Daku Island just off General Luna. The islands are also rich in marine life which makes it a game fisher’s haven - sailfish, blue marlin, tangigue, yellowfin tuna and morang are abundant in the area.

Siquijor is the magical and mystical island of the Philippines which used to be part of Negros Oriental and it was at that time called Island of Fire. The island is said to have magic potions, sorcerers and witches - and a lot of Filipinos will not stay overnight because of superstition! Include Siqujor in your travel plans if you're visiting Cebu, Bohol, or Negros Oriental.
Subic Bay Subic Bay is a coastal resort to the north of Manila, on the island of Luzon. The resort is popular with divers and explorers with trips to enjoy the Marine Park and also the Safari Park. Subic Bay is a great resort to combine with Manila, and Baguio to the north.
Sumilon Island Sumilon Island is one of Cebu's best kept secrets and is found on the southeastern tip of the mainland in close proximity to Dumaguete on Negros Occidental. The island is surrounded by crystal clear waters with varying aquamarine hues. Take a trip to Sumilon Island when you're visiting Cebu!
Often referred to as the land of gentle people and large sugar plantations, the tropical island of Negros Occidental is blessed with beautiful natural scenery, unexplored waterfalls and mountains, white sandy beaches, and crystal clear springs.
