We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this superb little pocket guide to The Philippines
Website Designed by Nigel Sutherland Designs Ltd.
Surfing & Watersports
Kayaking is popular almost everywhere, and is the perfect way to explore quiet bays and lagoons. The more adventurous will try parasailing and kitesurfing, or maybe a jetski, to get around that little bit faster! Surfers need go no further than Calicoan Island, East Samar, or Siargao Island, to take advantage of the Pacific waves. And we shouldn't forget the paradise that lies beneath the waves. Amidst the coral reefs, a vast amount of diverse marine life exists. No wonder the Philippines is a magnet for snorkelers, or those that like to explore the depths. Almost all beach resorts have dive centres, and there's usually training on hand for any novice wishing to take up the sport. |

Head to Calicoan Island, Samar, for a wonderful surfing experience. Boards are available so you don't need to take your own! Siargao Island, off Mindanao, is known as the Surfing Capital of the Philippines. Tourists and locals alike flock to ride on the great waves that hit the Siargao coasts. From August to November, Siargao surfing reaches its peak as the wind goes offshore. Cloud 9 is known to the world as one of the best surfing destinations in Siargao for its thick, perfect, hollow tubes that international surfers call a special wave. The best surfers from around the world gather here just to experience the perfection of this great wave. Calicoan Island, Samar, runs training courses with professional surf instructors for those that wish to take advantage of the fabulous beaches and learn the sport. If you'd like us to organise a surfing holiday for you, please get in touch.
Kayaking is a poular pastime for visitors to Philippines beach resorts, and also on some rivers too. The Philippines provides a wide variety of seascapes. Glide through crystal clear waters, or explore mangrove swamps; cut across quiet bays and beaches. Sail over coral reefs and watch the fish feeding. In El Nido, the sheer limestone cliff faces will leave you spellbound. |
Kitesurfing & Parasailing Head to Boracay if you'd like to experience the thrill of parasailing or kitesurfing. With beaches on all sides of this island, there's always somewhere to enjoy these sports. Training and equipment is available, of course, and we can put you in touch with schools that are just waiting to introduce you to these activities.
The Philippines has over eight hundred classes of corals, and a thousand species of marine life, and subsequently is a huge attraction for snorkeling enthusiasts. Of the 500 known coral species in the world, 488 are found in the Philippines. Some of the unique aquatic life includes the gorgonian butterfly fish, giant sponges, turtles, and colourful starfish. Some snorkelers are able to swim with butanding, the local term for whale sharks, or the rare dugong - an endangered mammal with an intelligence to rival the dolphin. Diving is popular almost everywhere on the Philippines coastline. There are numerous diving spots, for all abilities.
